Breastfeeding, the very best with love...
Breastfeeding is the most beautiful and best thing a baby can receive. The love for and contact with your baby when breastfeeding cannot be equalled.
Breastfeeding contains a great many nutrients and antibodies. These are necessary for the growth and development of your baby. A baby optimally profits from these advantages if it is breastfed for at least six months.
What do you eat as a mother if you give breastfeeding?
If you give breastfeeding you may eat ‘normally’. There are no ‘forbidden’ foodstuffs. It is especially important to eat varied and healthy food. It takes most mothers some extra energy though. On average you need around 500 kcal extra per day.
For mamas who give breastfeeding, the followed is recommended on average per day:
- 7 slices of bread
- 200-250 grams potatoes, rice or pasta
- 200 grams vegetables
- 3 pieces of fruit (300 grams)
- 3-4 glasses of milk (products)
- 1-2 slices of cheese (20 grams)
- 120 grams of meat (products) or vegetarian replacement
- 50 grams of low-fat margarine/margarine, frying product or oil
- at least 2 litres of drinking fluid (including milk products)
